week 1 term 2 wednesday 4 may 2011 www.isleworth.school.nz what s happening 2011 10 may 13 may pta meeting staffroom 7.00 sausage sizzle new entrants open morning book orders close offer 3 kia ora koutou welcome back to term 2 i hope you all had a relaxing break the children continue with their topic on the move this term and will develop various aspects of this topic our value focus will be respect this means that the children will specifically discuss what respect feels like looks like and sounds like in practice but we still emphasise all our school values during the daily life at school other events this term include our cross country and three way conferences which will be held towards the end of term open morning for parents of prospective new entrants this will be held next thursday 19 may at 11 am in the staffroom if you have neighbours or friends who are considering sending their child to isleworth please encourage them to come along and find out about our school we also welcome parents of children who may not be quite as young however most of what we talk about will be in relation to preparing children for their first days at school very shortly we will be installing a new boundary fence around the school this will have self closing entry gates at various points the exit gate on isleworth road will be adjacent to the crossing and will help to ensure children cross at the safe crossing point manned by teachers before and after school the park boundary will be fenced but we will be able to open up sections for use during our cross country and other sports events a temporary fence will be erected along the frontage while the old fence is removed and replaced with the new one noho ora mai 19 may 20 may 27 may 7 jun 13 jun 5 jul 15 jul 1 aug 28-30 6 oct 7 oct 25 oct school cross country zone cross country pta meeting staffroom 7.30 spell-a-thon term 2 ends term 3 begins year 5/6 camp school photos term 3 ends term 4 begins next pta meeting will be held in the staffroom on 10 may at 7.00pm all are welcome there will be a sausage sizzle on friday 13 may a notice will be going home this week the order and money must be returned to the office by tuesday 10 may .l oohcshtrow el si t a e mit l uf rednowaevah ll auoyepoh 3 1 moor ot itnoma ni pnagaet 7 moor ot lebelaa yi f o s 6 moorot ai hama ri kahsdnanosameolhc 3 moorot al a v al avno si m a e m o cl ewew pta news principal reminder for school resource fee and donation these can be paid to the office resource fee is compulsory 70.00 per child per year or $17.50 per child per term this pays for all the pens pencils etc and any trips children go on as well as entertainers who come to school the donation is $40.00 per family for the year while this is a donation payment would be appreciated as this funds all the little extras that the ministry of education doesn t provide in our operational grant wanted old cell phones for the starship school swap isleworth school is collecting old cell phones as part of a fundraising for our school as well as helping starship hospital with much needed funds to continue with starship s air ambulance service there is a collection box in the school office foyer where you can bring in your old cell phones.

in room 6 we have been learning to write recounts caleb has written a very descriptive recount he has also used lots of `time words to show the passing of time how many of these words can you find the best time in my life by caleb macpherson last year mum dad georgia and i went to sydney australia on the way there georgia was asking me questions but i was busy watching a mini flat-screen tv not to mention there was a mini tv on the seat in front of me i was such a chatterbox myself i was getting really excited maybe a bit too excited because i knocked my drink off the bench i didn t even notice at last we arrived at the airport i was thinking uh oh because i thought that we were going to crash luckily the pilot turned around again and we finally landed anyway we got off the plane with great excitement i saw my uncle jeff waving with his steff and their baby kobe when we got into the airport steff and jeff raced over to claim us and take us home but i said what about our luggage oh yeah said jeff so we went to wait for our luggage to come past soon enough our bag came round there it is i yelled nearly everybody looked at me as if i was an alien from a different planet when i looked back the bag was gone why me out of all these people why me i thought soon we were on our way home right no worries i m on the sydney harbour bridge when we got home i stunned to see such a beautiful house when we got inside steff put kobe to sleep first he started to cry but eventually he went to sleep by then it was night time before we went to bed we watched the simpsons halloween version the next morning i had goat s milk with my breakfast i had the best time of my life.
