JKU: A Driving Force in Science, Academics and Society   Founded in 1966, the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz is one of the youngest universities in Austria’s higher education system. In 1975, the university was renamed in commemoration of world-famous mathmatician and astronomer Johannes Kepler. Johannes Kepler lived and taught in Linz for several years. Social Sciences, Economics & Business, and the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences), the university added a fourth faculty in Fall 2014: the Faculty of Medicine. Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business (SOWI) The Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business is prominent at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz and the Faculty has been internationally recognized time and again for outstanding achievements and excellence in research and teaching. The Faculty‘s distinguished position is a result of over five decades of combined academic and scientific activity and teaching that began when the university was founded. Established at the JKU in 1966, the College for Social Sciences, Economics and Business was considered a forward-thinking milestone in research and education. From the beginning, the Faculty’s outstanding academic achievements in research and teaching have been instrumental in shaping the Johannes Kepler University’s international reputation as well as its reputation for conducting high-profile, socio-economic research in Austria. and hands-on practice in order to balance both baseknowledge and application-oriented research, thus giving the Johannes Kepler University a greater competitive edge. Business Informatics is the study of the dynamic relationships in business and technology, examining how to shape, drive and responsibly manage technological innovation. Business Informatics includes the design, development, and application of information and communication systems in the industrial sector, at businesses, and in support of administrative services. Master’s Degree Program in Web Sciences Offered in conjunction with the University of Art and Design Linz, the Master’s degree program in Web Sciences at the JKU is an interdisciplinary degree program for students who have academic backgrounds in other majors. The program is a research-led, in-depth study of web-relevant areas such as technology, business, law, society, art and culture. The program enables graduates to  implement interdisciplinary projects requiring strong team building and social skill sets,  apply a more multidisciplinary and cross-disciplinary mindset and  discern from a multitude of tasks, solution-oriented approaches and methods from outside disciplines. Students expand on the skills acquired during completion of their undergraduate or Diploma degree program. focal point of different disciplines. Joint Master’s Degree Program in Digital Business Management Digital media and technologies continue to shape and impact the business world by changing digital business competition. Keeping pace requires new, innovative business models. The first FH/JKU joint Master’s degree program in Digital Business Management focuses on these distinctive, dynamic, and competitive environmental features characterized by an increasing number of business digitalization processes, new entrepreneurship and global markets, intercultural aspects, growing importance in strategic positioning and markets, high market dynamics, and networking. The Master’s degree program has been designed to accomodate working professionals; in addition to two weeks of blocked sessions per year, classes take place primarily on Friday afternoons and Saturdays. Admission Requirements Applicants for the JKU/FH joint Master’s degree program in Digital Business Management must have sucessfully completed a Bachlor’s degree or Diploma degree. The program builds on the content of the JKU’s Bachelor’s degree program in Business Informatics, the business Bachelor’s degree program focusing on “E-Business and Communication Systems”, and the FH Campus Steyr’s program “Marketing und Electronic Business”. There are 30 spots per academic year in the program at the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria. Please apply at the University of Applied Sciences Steyr in Upper Austria, Faculty of Management, Steyr. Applications will be accepted by January 31 / March 31 / June 30. General Management Double Degree Master’s Program ESC Troyes – JKU Linz Graduates of the General Management Double Degree Master‘s program ESC Troyes - JKU Linz possess expert international skills to pursue a career in a dynamic, global environment. Future managers will develop a strong social skill set and acquire a business-minded, interdisciplinary, critical, and analytical way of thinking. Students earn two internationally recognized academic degrees, completing two semesters at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz and the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Troyes, Champagne School of Management (ESC). Bachelor’s Degree Program in Business and Economics* The Bachelor’s degree program in Business and Economics is a broad, academic degree program with an individual focus to help students develop the core skills needed to pursue a successful career in business. After graduation, students are well prepared for career entry or can choose to enroll in one of many graduate business degree programs (such as General Management, Web Sciences, etc.). Master’s Degree Program in Economics Students in the Master’s degree program address modern methods of economic theory and conduct empirical economic research. Students can specialize in various areas of business according to his/her personal interests such as international trade, labor economics, industrial economics or public sector economics. Master’s Degree Program in General Management The Master’s degree program in General Management provides students with a strong academic education and a hands-on approach. The program addresses key topics in both general and specialized fields of management.
