page 2 the cadet mesquite drill meet on april 2 2011 the gopher battalion special teams competed in the mesquite drill meet at west mesquite high school the teams that competed were armed academics unarmed color guard and physical training all teams did an amazing job the commanders of the teams are c/1lt nunez armed c/cpt rebollar­ unarmed c/cpt arredondo­ color guard c sgt vargas­ academics and c/ssg acosta­ physical training apparently the teams did not place this time but yet they did not feel disappointed and held their heads up high proud knowing that they did their best and will get them next year!

volume 1 issue 1 page 3 tyler orienteering meet on april 9 2011 the gopher battalion participated in the yearly orienteering meet in tyler tx the tyler ot meet is the biggest ot meet of the year all the cadets looked forward to this ot meet some cadets got lost in the woods looking for their points but thankfully they found their way back even though not all of the cadets finished the food was delicious thanks to sfc rios and ms lupe it was good to have her with us again some cadets found all points but did not place this was a huge deal to us because we are getting better and were proud of the cadets hard work we cant wait for next years ot meet.

volume 1 issue 1 page 4 orphan party on april 13 2011 grand prairie high school had an orphan party for some orphans the cadets adopted the boys for the day kevin justin and david everyone had so much fun they played twister opened presents unarmed had a performance that had the whole school in shock they even had an easter egg hunt and made a human pyramid ms johnson even had a piñata for all the orphans the smile on those kids was a wonderful moment we cant wait for next years party to see who we get as a special guests.
