Erlan Khairov, Chairman of the Investment Committee, talks about Special Economic Zones, their goals and objectives and the results already achieved. EBRD has played a big role in Kazakhstan growth and development, investing in the country since its independence, Janet Heckman, EBRD Director for Kazakhstan, tells us about EBRD support for the Nurly-Zhol programme covering investments into infrastructure, contribution to structural reforms and development of the private sector. The implementation of the initiative "National champions" with a focus on support for specific companies - the leaders of mediumsized businesses in the non-commodity sectors. The determination of business leaders will enable the creation of centers of excellence to transfer the know-how. 63. The development of two innovative clusters as a basis for the formation of a knowledge-based economy. In the "Astana Business Campus", the Nazarbayev University will include research centers and laboratories for joint research projects and development activities, as well as their further commercialization. For the implementation of specific industrial park projects with innovative technologies, local and foreign high-tech companies will be involved. 64. The portal will be a kind of "calling card" for the country, a national guide, the National Hall of Fame for interesting people and a platform for virtual communication. 88. The development and implementation of a national project to promote the idea of Universal Labor Society, which aims to promote the idea of a society of universal labor, based on the plans for infrastructure development "Nurly Zhol", the second five-year plan of industrialization, as well as the personal stories of success of Kazakhstani (heroes of our time) thanks to the positive results of the state policy in labor, business, scientific, educational and other professional activities during the years of independence, the prestige and popularity of social workers and vocational specialties that meet the needs of the state industrial policy and the implementation of the Strategy "Kazakhstan-2050". 89.
