Artists open their doors to show the public their art. The artwork is for sale, but there is much more in the offering: ideas, inspiration, the conversation of creativity, and a glimpse into lives devoted to art. about  us arin Open Studios (MOS) was founded in 1993 by painter Kay versary of Marin Open Studios. MOS acquired new partnerships and Carlson and sculptor Tim Rose. Their goal was to create an event worked on maintaining a year round presence for the visual arts, as well that would allow artists and the art culture in Marin County to flouras starting work on programs to benefit the environment, youth, and ish. arin Open Studios (MOS) was granted non-profit status as a 501(c) 3 with a mission to foster the visual arts in order to sustain a thriving art community. MOS is committed to give to and support underserved youth, schools, seniors, and the environment of Marin County. MOS also partners with other local art centers, including the Marin Society of Artists, a non-profit gallery that host MOS meetings, as well as Art Works Downtown, the Industrial Center t Building s i n Art s i t Arts Center. The following youth non-profits are invited to participate in the MOS event and Guide: Youth in Arts (#127) A Marin County non-profit offering instruction in visual arts. Youthinarts.org. Rising Stars (#156) The winners and honorees of the 23rd Annual High School Art Show held at the Youth in Arts Gallery. MOS juries the show and provides awards. Drawbridge, a non-profit Arts program for homeless children will be the recipient of a portion of proceeds of the MOS 2015 Silent Auction. Support them, visit the mural created for their benefit, for sale at the Wells Fargo Bank in Bon Air Center. Drawbridge.org. The Cedars of Marin (#158) runs an art program for adults with developmental disabilities some of whom participate in MOS. Cedars will also be a recipient of a portion of the proceeds of the MOS 2015 Silent Auction. thecedarsofmarin.org . Marin County Parks has partnered with MOS to produce events which invite artists to create art depicting the parks and open spaces, and promote awareness of Marin’s treasured outdoors. The Marin Open Studios Plein Air Group (MOSPAG) led by Stuart Gourlay, has sixty members who paint together at various sites. Artists of all levels and media are encouraged to join. Year-round Saturday paint outs led by Bob Amos contribute to MOSPAG. M Partnerships and Programs The group also holds exhibits of art created at these events. A portion of the proceeds of any sales from the exhibit is donated to Marin Parks. Downtown Artists in Action: MOS will produce this juried event with the San Rafael Business Improvement District on Saturday, August 29 from 9-4pm. Artists will paint in the Downtown business district, with prizes awarded, and exhibited at Art i n Works Downtown. Bon Air Center Partnership: In 2014 Andrea Schultz, President of Bon Air Center, generously hosted the MOS Galleries. Bon Air Center also offered MOS the use of windows for “pop up” exhibitions during the year, helping public awareness of MOS artists. Thank you! Marin Magazine: They are an angel to MOS.
