dell xpstm m1330 printer-friendly format página 6 de 382 need 2 know introduction this page identifies critical information presented in this document most of the material contained here involves updates from previous products or important information technicians should be aware of a brief description of each subject is provided along with a link to the complete documentation note this section includes supplemental information that s critical for support of this product it s not intended as a substitute for reviewing the training documentation field service issues the xpstm m1330 system has a new chassis and some features that dell s field service technicians should be aware of when servicing the unit they are covered here media control buttons cable when removing the center control cover take care to not damage the media control buttons cable attached to the underside of the cover itself you must disconnect the cable from a very small zif connector before you can fully remove the cover when reassembling the unit align the cable into the connector precisely or else the media buttons will not work properly if a part requires the center control cover to be removed in order to be serviced an additional center control cover will be shipped with the part being replaced this is done automatically and does not require any additional parts to be dispatched when service is setup center control cover removal instructions hinge cover plastics in addition to the center control cover that runs along the top of the keyboard this unit has two separate plastic pieces on the corners of the base closest to the lcd you must carefully remove them to access the lcd screws pay close attention to the removal instructions to avoid damaging these plastics they are tricky as well as fragile lcd removal instructions cable routing since the antenna cables for the wireless cards are part of the lcd assembly you must take them six total out of their channels and feed them through a hole in the system board when removing the lcd on this unit when replacing the antenna cables after replacing the lcd assembly you must put them back into their channels in a specific order if they are not routed correctly the keyboard and hinge cover do not fit correctly and the antenna cables may not be long enough to connect to the wireless cards on the bottom of the unit follow the teardown instructions closely lcd removal instructions lcd assembly this system has two different lcds and each has a different removal method follow the removal instructions carefully for the lcd type to avoid problems ccft lcd teardown instructions led lcd teardown instructions optical drive the xps m1330 has a slot-loading optical drive instead of a conventional tray-loading module there is no mechanical eject mechanism for the drive to eject stuck discs this means you must replace the drive if a disc gets stuck in the drive after replacing the drive disassemble the old drive to remove the disc for the customer optical drive removal instructions camera the xps m1330 ships with an optional built-in camera customers can get either a 2megapixel or 300-kilopixel camera depending on the lcd type the ccfl-backlit display has the 2-megapixel camera while the led-backlit display has the 300kilopixel version the reason is that the led display is much thinner so the camera has to be thinner as well for more information about both camera options click the following link camera overview page lcd options as stated previously this system has two different types of lcds available a ccfl-backlit display and an led-backlit display the led-backlit display is brighter but is more expensive it is also much thinner thus requiring a smaller camera therefore the only camera option for systems with this lcd option is the 300-kilopixel model for more information on these lcds visit the link below https dcse.dell.com/ifr/portables/xps_m1330/printer_friendly.asp 04/02/2010
