Artists Open Houses 2-25 MAY 2015 Each weekend in May, artists in Brighton, Hove, Ditchling and coast, throw open their homes and studios to bring you everything from sculpture and painting to jewellery, ceramics and textiles. More than 1,000 artists exhibit their work in venues citywide and in the surrounding area, providing art lovers with an engaging and inspiring experience and offering the opportunity to buy work and chat directly with the creators - many visitors buy their first piece of original artwork at an Open House. Bernard Lodge and Tony Bowen @The Old Market An exhibition of work by AOH brochure cover artist Bernard Lodge and Tony Bowen, joint winner of the 2014 AOH Artist of The Year Award. AOH 2015 brochure cover artist, Bernard Lodge, is best known for his work designing the early Doctor Who title sequences and series logos, before going on to work on the effects for Ridley Scott’s Alien and Bladerunner. Bernard was one of the first people to work on designing computer effects. Since then he has moved to more traditional artforms and now creates bright bold woodcuts, such as that produced for the AOH 2015 brochure cover design. 2014 AOH Artist of the Year winner Tony Bowen’s recent work explores found surfaces both in nature and in the corners and recesses of our urban environment. The Scratch project documents found glass surfaces in various locations in London and Sussex. Tony’s photographs celebrate the richness and beauty found in the banal and seek new ways of looking at city and landscape. From Friday 10 April throughout May April: Weekdays 13.00 - 17.00 (when box office is open) and during performance times May: Weekdays 11.00 -17.00 (when box office is open) and during performance times The Old Market, 11a Upper Market Street, Hove BN3 1AS www.theoldmarket.com Bernard Lodge: Toyopolis Tony Bowen: Whitechapel - Call to Worship 2 4
