they don t seem to be startled from the news reaching their destination with weary legs they cautiously open the door to their house that their grandfather bought back in 1880 as they enter the bare living room they settle in quietly without talking to each other while sitting on the floor with nothing to do carie starts to mumble something so her sister answers what nothing sis i was just humming to myself we should start unpacking carie says lillianmoans loudly they both then arise to go to their rooms going to their rooms they realize that it hasn t changed plain white paint a bed with sheets and blanket and a small desk the house was still as can be as soon as lillian slips into her house shoes she trudges around her room breaking the silence lillian finished unpacking and is now headed down stairs towards the kitchen she opens the refrigerator and notices that there s nothing to eat carie we have to go shopping after this we need some food she yells walking back upstairs to carie s room okay sis yelling back but notices that her sister is now at her door i still have to unpack though can you wait for yes carie just hurry up before dawn breaks lillian says cutting carie off carie continues unpacking and finishes in time for the sun to still be shinning bright they both left their lonely house and went to the nearest grocery store when they reached the grocery store they notice that the prices were quite high and their money was exhausting after the shopping was over the girls went back home and found themselves in their lonely soundless home we really have to work this time lillian said when they went inside the house i guess so waiting would be a waste of time anyway carie said disappointed a s carie and her sisterwalked the streets of the 1889ohio they could hear the loud radio as they walk farther and farther they could hear a fainting noise from the radio announcing who won the election of becoming the next president benjamin harrison ~2~

lillian did a heavy sigh and headed towards the kitchen first when they were finished putting things away they both went and stood outside for about an hour or so watching the sun descend they both went back inside the house frowning do you think mom and dad would ever come carie said to lillian i don t know little sis they said they were lillian responded we re on our own right now we can t always depend on them lillian continued being the oldest lillian knew that life in urban areas was mainly about jobs lillian started we ll have to rouse early tomorrow carie we have to go out there and find a job carie quickly looked at her sister eyes widened is it really necessary sis i don t want to work i want to go to school carie responded vigorous does it look like we have the money carie lillian responded bitterly we have to work no matter what if you want to go to school then we should work together to get the money for you to go lillian continued alright but only temporarily carie said fine lillian said irked the day broke and it was time to go to bed with the argument on their minds they apologized to each other quickly and went straight to bed now that the moon raised high in the sky everything in the city was settled the sisters woke up extra early to begin their journey while walking on the streets of the city they saw plenty of work but first they headed towards the mining fields noticing a lot of women there they decided that it seemed like a good place they walked towards one of the employers and were very distressed when they finally arrived in his presence they relaxed and lillian started hi my name is lillian davis i was wondering if my sister and i can be employed here if you have the skills yes if you don t leave immediately the employer said agitated carie then said immediately of course we have the skills we re women ~3~

that s right and doesn t seem like you re up for the job you both are too skinny now leave he yelled the two sisters left and never looked back he doesn t have to be stingy like that carie said fiercely lillian acted like she didn t hear anything and kept walking from the looks of it seems like no one really wanted them and these jobs were the only ones closest to their home without a choice lillian went to one of the closest factories to her house and went stood there she was about to walk in when carie came yelling her name lillian are you crazy it s dirty in there who cares at least we have a job lillian responded back troubled lillian opened the door with no hesitation she walked in and found herself inhaling the pollen and the odor from the workers lillian straightened herself up and walked towards the employer s office hi my name is lillian davis i was wondering if you had any jobs left lillian said eagerly eventually yes the employer said what was your interest he continued if i was just a worker in here that ll be fine lillian said as her heart rate accelerated you can be another one of our factory cleaners well for how much since you re new why don t we just start with two dollars per week but i ll give you your first payment after work lillian hesitated and gave it some thought will it increase later on it depends then i ll take it but how many spots do you have as many as i can get okay my sister would like to work here too no problem both of you can start working tomorrow sure thing see you tomorrow then mister mr bellenger and here are your uniforms ~4~

lillian took the uniforms and skipped out of mr bellenger s room happily she ran outside so quick that when the door opened it almost slammed carie in the face guess what sis we re hired lillian said with enthusiasm we i don t recall me agreeing to work here carie said sadly well we both are going to be the factory cleaners starting tomorrow so i d advice for you that it s either now or never lillian said handing over the uniform carie gave her a look and sighed heavily fine but you really need to go shower you smell like a whole barn the two sisters turned back and ran home before dawn broke now that they ve found a job it didn t seem like they had to worry about anything else it s 8 a.m and the clock rings the two sisters are up now doing their morning routine they both scurried about the house trying to find their uniforms and preparing for their job the clock rings again and the girls are now walking to their job happily when they finally reach the factory mr bellenger is already waiting for them outside the door seeing them from afar he stands patiently for the girls to come closer hello ladies he says when he can see their face clearly we have a lot of work to do he said entering into the factory he took them to a room where all the supplies were left all of them dirty and unsanitary you want us to use that carie said is it too hard to ask mr bellenger said no it s fine lillian said looking at carie well you can use these to clean the tables first after that clean the machines that are farthest from here and work your way down people may walk by so don t talk to them no matter what just concentrate on your work mr bellenger said with ease yes sir carie and lillian said at the same time they grabbed the things and left to do their jobs they worked and worked all day and were only able to rest for 30 seconds every time they stopped mr bellenger would come by and give them a look and they would get up and start cleaning again after a long 8 hours of work sweeping and cleaning the machines and tables they stopped and went to mr bellenger s office ~5~

carie stops talking and decides to keep eating her food the sisters house is left with silence through the night they slept in peace and warmly everything was going well for about a few days but mr bellenger decided to hire another woman to join our crew the newbie was a shy hearted woman who seemed desperate she always looked at mr bellenger with these eyes of hers she was calm and didn t seem to be a talkative person she worked with ease and didn t bother us at all excuse me but am i suppose to clean the tables too she asked carie eventually we re finished with that already we re going to concentrate on the machines now carie responded nicely okay lillian stood there blankly and was speechless that must have been the ever first time since they moved to ohio that carie respected another person knowing that she was going to be good friends with lillian decided to talk to her hi my name s lillian i m love love long she said nice to meet you love may i ask my mother named me that way because she wanted me to remember that life had a huge meaning to it love said cutting lillian off i guess lots of people must ask that question a lot carie said scrubbing off the stain on a machine yes lots we better get back to work he s coming to inspect us they all went to work immediately fast enough for mr bellenger to not see that they were communicating everyone was working and sweat was dripping as soon as the minute hand hit twelve mr bellenger came to get the girls and give them their pay for the week the girls went outside and found themselves exhausted than ever restless hours of working didn t seem to be going well for the girls now that we re not in work we can talk now love said ~7~

there s a hospital being formed in chicago i believe it was called provident hospital and dakotas montana and washington are being permitted to the union love said wow the world seems to be changing a lot carie said i know changing from an agriculture to an industry seem to have been easy well agriculture was only helping america with their food products they wanted to change into an industry because of money i think if you make things you can sell it for an expensive price lillian said true since people are inventing new things and technology carie added maybe people were having a feeling that we re not going to survive with only agriculture food was sold for less than products so i guess the u.s decided to change into an industry to make more money for themselves love said we should get going the sky s almost dark lillian said yeah i should too see you two tomorrow love said while walking the opposite way okay bye the sisters said they all went home and slept quietly while the moon peeked out every day is like a routine of the same things over and over again the sisters got up extra early to eat breakfast this time while eating lillian spoke living here isn t so bad after all huh i guess this large factory town was like the loudest place i ve been in carie responded lillian laughed and said i thought it was cool living here the only bad part about it was the odor outside and all that pollution yeah wish mom and dad was here though lillian broke a smile and hugged her sister they walked outside the door to start their daily routine ~8~

summery lillian and her sister are moving into ohio where her grandparents use to live in they are teenagers whose parents let them go live their own lives carie being the youngest doesn t know what her parents are really actually doing she waits for them and wants to live her old life again going to school and being free almost all the time lillian is the oldest and is trying her best to fulfill her parents brilliant idea since carie is stingy and loves to do things her way her parents are purposely doing this to show her a lesson they are in the year of 1889 of ohio a place that use to be an agricultural place filled with industries and factories now ohio has lots of women working in it either factory cleaning paper industry or even a clerk during this time period the economic situations of women are that men were getting more money than women women were only either paid one-third of what men get paid, meaning that women were either paid two dollars or even less weekly a political situation during 1889 is when belgium declares for women and child labor laws child labor reform was achieved by more than at least one-third of all the children were going to school and not working at this kind of time schools began to increase throughout the year some children were still working because their families were too poor and couldn t afford for their children to go to school children were being pulled out of factory work and into the education system the population boom was caused because of the attraction to railroad industry meat packaging steel industry and oil industry the us seemed to have been ready for this since they did want some attraction to the country this relates to pontiac during the 1950s 1980s because pontiac was a motor city where they sell cars with this the population would increase because of jobs for building and making a car bonneville brougham 1964 pontiac 2009 g6 sedan last pontiac car from this to that ~9~
