all women l ong flat s best known fig tree has seen its fair share of smooching during the past 100 years clientele from the town s historic traveller s rest hotel would often end a night of socialising with a kiss or two beneath the branches of the 180-year-old tree today the tree is home to fruit bats for part of the year and its roots wind their way underneath the popular mid-north coast pub west of wauchope my older customers have canoodled under that fig tree apparently hotel owner lynette young said the tree is older than even the pub itself which has been there since the 1870s and is a memory chest for travellers who have stopped in as well as locals if the tree could talk it would testify that blokes have often been outnumbered at the hotel more than a century ago there was the widowed sarah henry who ran the pub as well as her mammoth brood of 11 children today there is the sign that reads petticoat junction indicative of the establishment s all-female team of staff we re mostly all older ladies lynette said it s a lot of hard work it s seven days a week and of course there is harry the galloway bull who is part of a cattle herd where the female to male ratio is 14-to-one the hotel sits photos by kylie biltris 4 lifestyle magazine

barista how fresh is fresh coffee this is a big question and one which will provide a multitude of answers from different people in the industry at buzz we roast the coffees fresh every week the coffee is bagged with harry brady two days later and will appear at your local café buzz another five 5 days after that this will be used over the next seven 7 days is that fresh i think so in fact i think it gets better over the two 2 weeks and we have conducted tests which verify that the coffee we sell to you in bags is aged up to 12 weeks after roasting i believe this is the optimum and that the coffee will start to drop in flavour after that this is the opinion of my roaster a man with over 25 year s experience i believe him but like i said other people have other opinions why does coffee in supermarkets have 12 month dates on them because it is convenient for them this coffee is stale and will not produce the full flavours you desire in your coffee this is another reason we sell our coffee in black or silver bags the bags have a one way valve to let the carbon dioxide release but not allow air in the do not have plastic see-through sides as light will make coffee stale quickly keep the coffee in our special bags in a dark cool place in your cupboard buy small amounts regularly use your own grinder and you are well on the way to enjoying your coffee fresh your café buzz has 23 coffees from all over the world to choose from coffees from africa asia australia central america and south america all sold in our special bags so that you can enjoy buzz as fresh as it can be please email your thoughts or questions to harry buzzcoffee.com.au or use our new facebook page buzz coffee enjoy your coffee harry café for sale outstanding cbd opportunity established for 7 years full training and support provided finance to approved applicants ready to grow locally owned · locally run · exclusive buzz coffee franchise opportunities available turn coffee into your lifestyle 14 lifestyle magazine café for more information call harry on 0412 825 882 or visit www.buzzcoffee.com.au
