volume 1 issue 6 an interview with our founder i recently had the opportunity to pick the mind of our founder and ask her some serious questions regarding the history of ourplace league and a few about the hopes for the league s future it was an interesting interview that took place over a two day period if you know tis at all you know the interview involved much laughter and trips to the washroom on the sixth anniversary of the ourplace league i would like to share that interview with you our readers and members oka what was your inspiration for starting a league of your own tis it wasn t my first choice but it was either that or quit leagues/tourneys altogether and i wasn t ready to stop oka is there a story behind the our place league name if so would you share it with our readers tis not really it just popped into my head sounded warm cozy and special i pictured a group of friendly people gathering to play games with each other a place where you could disagree with someone or even dislike them without trying to destroy them moreover a gathering place where it was true that it wasn t the game winning or losing that mattered it was the camaraderie among friends and acquaintances oka have there been any obstacles to getting our place up and running how has the league overcome them tis oh sure there are always obstacles natural ones just cuz ones hateful ones seasonal reasons etc the thing is if it really matters to you you persevere whether you are a member of staff or a non-staff member oka if you could have seen six years ago what you see now would you have taken a different approach toward forming the our place league what path would you have chosen tis as to a different approach no as i said it was start my own league or get off the computer altogether oka what would you say the our place league excels at in distinguishing itself from similar leagues out there tis i think that every league has something special to offer and whatever that specialness is should not be tossed about or shouted from the rooftops shot out of a cannon or paraded across our main pages or chat boxes as a better than them motto this applies to all the leagues out there not just wordriot leagues oka what are the immediate goals of our place league tis recruit new players to the league of course bring in more tournament directors so that we have more to offer everyone maintain the honor and ethics we ve held since our beginning and ignore those that wish us ill concentrate on the fun to be had by each and every member who is here to play and be a friend not just visiting to take screenshots of purported wrongs oka what tournament moment stands out in your mind that makes you laugh hold hands you two and don t let go and other famous td quotes page 2 continued on page 6

volume 1 issue 6 march league anniversary series by okadoka six years have come and gone so fast from our humble beginnings to the present our goals and direction have remained true we have striven to provide the best place for entertainment on the web the ourplace family invites you to help celebrate the accomplishments of the past six years of laughter friendship and gaming together as we also invite you to join us as we take that step forward into our seventh year we take great pride in the continuation of this tradition six years ago tis wanted to find a new way to share her love of word riot with like minded friends she had met who also had an interest in continuing the word riot tournament tradition she built this league as a gathering place for friends who understood that a game is just a game and that camaraderie counts more than winning we take great pride in the continuation of this tradition while our staff and members have changed over the years our dedication to you our members and friends has not thank you for continuing to help uphold the standards of the our place league it s been a wonderful six years and we can t wait to see what s in store for the future may you enjoy this march league anniversary series and know that at our place you are what makes this league a success have the most points at the end of the 4 week tour and select either the pot o gold or the golden ticket as your prize the pot o gold equals an 80 gems package for pogo mini items or badges and the golden ticket equals a 3 month club pogo subscription this month each time you advance in a tour you will receive one point additional points can be earned by following the weekly themes listed below this friday series will have mixed formats don t worry fonix lovers there is a bit of fonix included in each tour these tours will have a special theme follow the theme and if you show up in the themed costume or follow the requested mini challenge you will be awarded the additional points listed below i will keep track of all points take note of the dates and themes for these 4 tours below march 4th lucky leprechaun limerick 9pm this event already took place see the limericks the contestants submitted on page 4 of this publication march 11th mulligan stew 9pm email a recipe for a st patrick s day treat or an anniversary cake to me okadoka@hotmail.com 5 points added to your total this weeks challenge is two-fold also have your mini dressed from head to toe in green to receive another point march 18th ­ sweets iron candy and wood 9 pm tradition says sweets iron and candy are in order for a sixth anniversary modern lists say wood have your mini bring a goodie to the tourney that follows one of those gift ideas to receive a point use the words sweets iron candy or wood in you clues as clue giver and receive an additional 3 points march 25th paddy o gold s dowry 9pm as our league anniversary series comes to a close mr o gold has offered a dowry to the bloke who wins the tourney and takes the hand of his daughter find mr o golds daughter somewhere on the tourney page and send me and email stating where you found it to receive a point please email the recipe to okadoka@hotmail.com and i will post it to the league community site if there is anything that just cannot go wrong it will anyways murphy s law page 3

volume 1 issue 6 an interview with our founder cont tis lolololololol as soon as i see the question i can t help but laugh needless to say there have been many hilarious moments over the years but this one sentence in one tourney by a former ourplace member just pops into my head every once in awhile out of nowhere i might not even be on the computer when i think of it and it makes me laugh in a tourney chem chemicala1 reported a loss turned out it was not a valid loss for some reason i don t recall his next line oops sorry premature reportation if i really did ever make something called a tisionary chem s premature reportation would be right in there oka what is the biggest challenge our place faces as the league moves forward into a seventh year tis wow lots and lots of lines deleted here but i d say the biggest challenge right now is staff the ones who remain are loyal willing etc but we re fraught with issues of health family busy other lives etc it would be nice to have loads of tds even if they each only hosted once a week we are extremely fortunate to have irene oka melly prtr ck and now our latest htd molly also a few who have moved on will always be missed too many of our players lend their special blend of personalities to ourplace for me to single out any one or several and take a chance on slighting someone but you know who you are you know how often you join or attempt to or help when you can t join you know how often you ve bolstered or tried to bolster various tds spirits over an empty calendar etc we salute you as well as our staff oka do you feel the accomplishments of the league are the result of the playing member or the staff tis my mind doesn t really separate staff from non-staff in our league a successful league relies on everyone involved in it and by successful i don t necessarily mean big or busy i think it s more important to have mutual respect for each other and understand that people have family lives and can t always be here to do what you want them to do and you hope they understand that you have serious issues also we ve been a 200 plus-member-league with over a hundred active and we ve been in our current situaton before except for being busier when we had 200 there s no difference when people are having fun and still coming to play members have come and gone some have come and gone and come and gone and come and gone staff has changed for many different reasons as have members certainly we d like to have more staff the more staff we have the more tourneys we can put up but our present staff despite the trials and tribulations of some of us is sterling every one of us does as much as we can possibly do for the league as often as we are able but most of all i think our entire league works because the majority of us believe in the same values respect others be kind don t wish ill on others recognize that we play games and want to feel better about life each other and ourselves when we have to stop playing to do some life things this is the most fun i ve had at a half hour tour and other famous td quotes page 6
